White Rabbits - They Done Wrong, We Done Wrong

I have been sitting on White Rabbits’ album for I have no idea how many months. Subconsciously I must not have been able to believe I had room for another “rabbit” band.  It turns out that I do.  A few spins in and “It’s Frightening” (really, “frighten” and “rabbit”?? :) is really good. Some of it reminds me of Spoon and how much I hope they have a new album soon.  But all in all it is a really good album.  Enjoy…

Jookabox - You Cried Me

This is pretty rad. I have high hopes for the rest of the album (which I am about to dig into with some Ito En Green and too many emails).

fred-wilson:

You Cried Me - Jookabox

this marks the end of the hip hop run we were on here at fredwilson.fm

i think we’ll see a continued uptick in the amount of hip hop being posted, but it’s not going to be everyday like it was last week

this is some serious awesomeness i came upon this morning at we are hunted

this is a guy named David Adamson from Indianapolis Indiana who calls his band Jookabox.

Beirut - Scenic World

I finally saw Beirut for the first time at Treasure Island Fest (thanks Frankie & Shelby for the ticket!).  Their set was incredible “Scenic World” was one of the highlights.

Megafaun - The Process

So much good folk this year. Megafaun’s “Gather Form and Fly” keeps growing on me.

Mumford & Sons - Dust Bowl Dance

Darker. Louder. Angry. Pretty epic compared to the fun, folky songs that introduced me to M&S. Impressed with their range.

Mumford & Sons - I Gave You All

I have been waiting for Mumford & Son’s first LP for months and I finally got a copy last week.  For days I have been trying to decide which songs to post.  What a pleasurable problem.  I can’t decide, so I will post two.  Some of the new songs are darker.  It’s different but I like it.  Less banjo folky but still very M&S.  More epic and more complicated (compositionally and emotionally).  Enjoy…

Pearl Jam - Just Breathe

PJ fell off my radar after Ten and Versus. 2007’s “Into The Wild” OST reintroduced me to Eddie Vedder and got me back into listening to PJ. There are lots of things I like about the new PJ album, but I am glad a little bit of Eddie’s solo work found its way in too.

Frightened Rabbit - Swim Until You Can’t See Land

This track is growing on me but I am a little fearful in anticipation of the new Frightened Rabbit.  I loved the last one way too much and they probably won’t be able to live up to my hopes and dreams for album #3.  We will see…

Megafaun - Kaufman’s Ballad

Tumblr is rapidly becoming my favorite spot for music discovery (get with it music friends).  I was introduced to Megafaun through EOTB’s quarterly roundup.  If you aren’t following them, do it: http://www.earsofthebeholder.com/.

Also check out http://www.wearehunted.com for an easy way to listen to what the net is listening to (replacing http://hypem.com for me due to its great UI).

Oh yeah, I hope you enjoy the lush folk of Megafaun… :)

Dave Matthews - The Stone

I was never a huge fan of The Dave Matthews Band. But I love Dave solo, or with Tim Reynolds. This video is a great example of the his acoustic rhythm guitar godliness…
